This policy covers two different things: this marketing website (yewsearch.com and its subdomains), and the Yew Search software you self-host. They are not the same, and this policy treats them separately.
This site uses Matomo, a self-hosted analytics tool that we operate ourselves, to understand traffic to this site (pages visited, general location, referrer). We do not sell this data, and we do not share it with third-party advertising or tracking networks. It is used only to understand how this site is used.
If you sign up for anything on this site in the future (a mailing list, a waitlist, a contact form), we'll only use what you give us for the stated purpose of that form, and won't sell or share it with third parties.
Yew Search is self-hosted software. When you run it, your data - emails, crawled pages, files, and anything else you connect - lives on infrastructure you control. We do not operate your instance, do not have access to it, and the software does not report usage data, search queries, or content back to us.
The one exception is entirely under your own control: if you configure a hosted third-party provider for embeddings or summarization (instead of a local model like Ollama), the relevant content is sent to that provider, because you chose to connect it. That's between you and the provider you selected - review their own privacy policy before doing so.
